Universities
The UK’s higher education institutions are renowned for their quality, and some very well respected names, such as Oxford and Cambridge Universities (in England) and Trinity College (Dublin, Ireland) also have very long histories and some great traditions.
The study period is similar to that in the USA, beginning in early September and finishing in May for the summer break. Tuition fees vary according to the course and institution. For overseas students, unless on financial aid, the fees almost always have to be paid ‘up-front’, that is, as you are studying - usually the semester (half-year) must be paid early on during the study period or the student risks being asked to leave the institution they are studying at.
